School Bus and Motorhome Accident causes four students, among six people to suffer minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when a brand-new motor home crashed into a Venus ISD school bus in rural Johnson County. The accident site was near the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 157 and County Road 507, about seven miles west of Midlothian.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said 73-year-old Don Pierson of Canton, Texas, was behind the wheel of the luxury motor home when it rear-ended the school bus in Venus at 4:30 p.m. Gloria Pierson used the car they had been towing to drive her husband to Methodist Hospital in Mansfield. The Piersons had just purchased the 2011 Entegra Cornerstone Coach on Tuesday. The accident caused extensive damage to both the back of the school bus and the front of the motor home, which retails for well over $500,000. No citations were issued by troopers immediately following the accident.
School bus driver Joshua Stepp, 34, of Cleburne, was taken to a hospital for treatment along with two 17-year-old girls, a 14-year-old boy and a seven-year-old boy. Fortunately, all of the injuries were described as non-life threatening and reports are that one broken leg and a lot of bruises and cuts was the worst of it. I am glad to hear this because given the amount of damage, this accident could have resulted in much more severe injuries.
